![]() Originally posted by Tarsis:In single player, however, the AI teams don't really seem to suffer from it, and will just create teams to fit your TV when you join the tourney. Not always to the team's benefit, but the team is constantly changing. This to me seems like it's a team that's evolving. It also opened up other types of plays due to having linemen who were a bit faster. It removed some options (those zombies had dodge, block, and other useful for blocking skills). (not that I throw many with undead to begin with) Having to replace killed/crippled zombies with skeletons because they were slightly cheaper again changed my playbook. When my dedicated thrower build ghoul got killed it meant I couldn't throw as many passes. This affected my team makeup, and thus what sort of plays I could use. ![]() I had a mummy get killed in a match and couldn't afford to replace him right away. if you bloat your team to the point where you can't afford to replace your dead bench players the bench will decrease until you can afford it. Spiraling expenses are also a self correcting problem. And mechanic wise, this is to prevent things like having a completely full roster of maxed out players, every stadium upgrade, 8 rerolls, max assistant coaches, max cheerleaders, and so forth. Lore wise, many teams end up disbanding because the owner went broke. Honestly, spiraling expenses makes sense both from a lore perspective and game mechanic perspective. Maybe if sponsors actually sponsored your team in EL you could stretch your legs a bit. This can result in a number of other losses, and even lost games when your opponents are in that 2200 range too. ![]() The counter argument of "you would have a lower TV without the extra man" isn't applicable because you still hit the SE quite quickly, and then sit at 0 gold until you are playing 8 or 9 man team for several games. I have to fill out my team ASAP while there is still some form of income, once they gain a couple skills you can no longer afford replacements for the dead or backup linemen. Why are they even in the game? Same with stadium upgrades. No one ever uses cheerleaders and staff, not even in single player, because of the overhead. No cash for stadium upgrades, no room in the budget for cheerleaders or coaching staff. Yes, aging is an option you can control, and I've not had anyone live long enough to retire anyway. Develop gradually, especially from a simple to a more complex form. ![]()
